Since 1921, DTU has conferred the University’s highest academic honour—honorary doctorates—to individuals who have played a particularly important role for DTU’s research.

Since 2000, the academic highpoint of the Annual Commemoration Day has been the conferral of honorary doctorates (doctor technices, honoris causa).
